Meet the Team

Practice Manager - DSL
Charmaine Cayton
Hi, I’m Charmaine and I am the new Practice Manager.

For the past 25 years I have worked in Early Years and I passionately believe they are the most fundamentally important years of a child’s life, setting the foundations for lifelong learning and behaviour.
I first started out as an apprentice in a nursery which is when I realised a career in childcare was definitely for me! I then moved on to work for Northampton College where I ran
a holiday club for children aged 4-11 and was the Deputy Manager of the onsite nursery for eight years.
When I had my first child I decided to become
a childminder so I could offer her the same experience I had offered so many children previously. I childminded for 13 years where I was awarded outstanding twice by Ofsted. During this time I completed my BA Hons degree in Early Childhood Studies and Education and also had my son.
Once I completed my studies I became a mentor at the University of Northampton for students undertaking the Early Years Professional Status. I love to learn and I am always seeking out new ways to increase my knowledge.
I have recently completed a short course in
play therapy to support children who have suffered trauma and need additional support.
I thoroughly enjoy working with children and watching them grow into happy confident children who are well prepared for their next stage in life.

Early Years Practitioner
Charlotte Clay
My name is Charlotte
I have over 20 years of childcare experience, mainly working in the private sector, where I worked as a Deputy Manager and Early Years Practitioner, alongside the Behaviour Representative and SENCO, with children between the ages of 0-5 years.

I have 3 children, all of whom attended Hanslope Pre-school and thoroughly enjoyed their time. When my middle son attended I became a member of the committee as the Chairperson. I worked very closely with the Pre-school to develop and enhance the provision and implement positive change in line with the policies, procedures, and curriculum.
Now my youngest has started school, I felt the time was right to go back to working in Early Years Education, a career I am passionate about.

I hope to bring fun and enjoyment to Hanslope Pre-school and work with the staff team to ensure the children have a variety of rich and stimulating activities alongside the children's interests, learning, and development.
