Meet the Team

Practice Manager - DSL
Kerry Reynolds - level 3
Hello, I am Kerry Reynolds, the new Practice Manager.
I have worked for the last 25 years in Early Years up to post-19 years of age.
I began my career in a private school nursery where I worked mainly in the nursery but also supported within the school when needed. During this time, I delivered after-school clubs and summer childcare services.
After a few years, I moved to Milton Keynes Hospital, where I trained as a Hospital Play Specialist at Leicester College. During this period, I developed a strong passion for working with children with additional needs and reached out to some local specialist schools for some training to support me in my role at the hospital when putting care plans together.
After several years, I returned to a nursery environment as a Senior Room Leader for the preschool room and then progressed to Deputy Manager. I still maintained a keen interest in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
This is when I then moved to the Walnuts, a school for children with communication and language difficulties or an autism diagnosis. I worked at the Walnuts for many years, mainly in the Early Years. During this time, I got married and had two children.
Following this, the local authority approached me to join the SEND team to support families, settings for children aged 0 to 19. In this role, I supported families and settings to explore the foundations of each child’s learning to help them reach their full potential in their educational journey. This also involved working closely with other professionals, speech and language therapists, psychologists, paediatricians, etc, and delivering training.
I believe early intervention is key to a child’s success, and I love to watch each child grow on their own, unique journey.
I have worked within this service for nearly 15 years and now feel it is time to start a new adventure.

Early Years Practitioner
Emily Mallard - level 3
Hello, my name is Emily,

After completing my level 3 in childhood and education, I have worked in Nurseries for over 12 years; with most of this time working in a Nursery at a private school. After all this time I am still enjoy learning and gaining knowledge from the children around me.

I am good at encouraging independence amongst the children while still offering support when needed. I love reading and like to bring stories alive through engaging play set ups, music and movement activities. Getting messy, playing outside and exploring new experiences are things I also try and encourage children to participate with.

But best of all I like nothing more than to be invited into a child’s imaginative game. Maybe being served a pretend bug sandwich or slime cup of tea and seeing the look of joy on their face when I pretend to try it is just amazing!

I believe children learn at their best when they feel safe, happy and are engaged in play.

I can’t wait to join the team and meet you and your children!

Practitioner - Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
Claire Taylor
Hi I’m Claire and I’m really looking forward to joining the team as an Early Years Practitioner.
I have 2 children, a Daughter and Son who both keep me very busy!
I have an NVQ level 3 in Health and Social care with Children and Young People.
I have worked with children since leaving school from working abroad running the kids clubs at summer and winter resorts to working in a nursery and then going onto work in a residential home for children with special needs where I gained my qualification and continued to work there for 5 years.
I then spent the next 10 years working at the Walnuts School where I spent my time working in the residential home and the school supporting children with an autism diagnosis and children who had language and communication difficulties.
I have just spent the last 6 years at a Primary School where I was a 1-1 for children who found mainstream a challenge so I spent my time fully supporting these children during their time at school which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I have always enjoyed every role I’ve worked in and I’m so excited to start my new adventure at Hanslope Pre-school and can’t wait to meet all of the children and their families.
